Writing a Blog Post
Don’t just contact newspapers; blogs are also a great way to get the word out about your market’s participation in the contest this summer. We have included a sample blog post below for you to use however you see fit. If you have your own blog, copy and paste it, or change the words to add your own spin. If you don’t have a blog, send the sample to people in your community that do have blogs and ask them to post it. Many local newspapers run blogs in tandem with their website; if you aren’t having luck with your press release, this may be a better route. Food and community event blogs are also very popular and only a Google search away!
Remember, when writing your post, the goal is to inspire folks to vote for your market and then spread the word to their friends and neighbors. Good luck!
