Our Farm and Ranch Land Urgently Needs our Committed Stewardship
According to the 2007 National Resources Inventory, over four million acres of active agricultural land were developed between 2002 and 2007. This represents an area roughly the size of Massachusetts.
Together
we can save millions of acres of the land that sustains us. We can work
with farmers and ranchers to address major environmental challenges
like climate change and water quality. And we can help the nation's
farmers meet the growing demand for local food.
Our
plan for the next five years carves a clear path to a sustainable
future for agriculture and our communities: a future in which all
Americans can enjoy farm-fresh food on our tables, the pleasure of an
open country road, the security of clean water, and farms contributing
to local economies.
We hope you will join us as we continue our work to shape a bright and sustainable future for America’s farms and ranches.
